What's On My Baby Registry

We are so excited to be welcoming our baby girl in just a few weeks (God willing). It's all finally starting to feel real.  It's been almost 7 years since I've had a newborn (this is my second) so I feel like I've been out of the game and starting all over again. There are so many new products that have come out on the market that I'm excited to try out, and of course, those that are tried and true that I purchased again. I donated pretty much all of my son's baby items so it's like I was starting from scratch.

I really only wanted to get the necessary items this time around. Here are some that I found very useful and are must-haves for any baby registry along with some new ones I'll be trying out. So let's get started!

1. Tub: For my first born I purchased the Primo Eurobath, which I really liked and he used up until he was 5 years old (haha), but this time around I wanted to get a smaller tub (to save space) that could still work into toddlerhood so I added the Boon Soak 3-Stage to our registry. You really can't go wrong with either  in my opinion.

2. Hooded Towel: I love the hooded towels from Pottery Barn Kids. They are great quality and you can get them monogrammed with your child's name (which I did).  I also got two more from the brand Hudson as well as Skip Hop.

Quick Tip: You can sign-up to the Pottery Barn Kids e-newsletter to get an extra 20% off your purchase.

3. Aden & Anais Swaddles: I love the Aden + Anais swaddles. They are so soft and can be used for several things, from swaddles, to cover the stroller, burp cloths, blankets...etc. My son Andy still loves traveling with his on the plane.

4. Sophie the Giraffe: Sophie the Giraffe is pretty much a staple in any baby registry. It's an excellent teether and it's made of 100% all-natural rubber, vegan and food-grade-dye. Needless to say, I added it again to my baby registry this time around as well.

5. Halo Sleepsack: A sleep sack is another must-have in any baby registry. I went through so many sleepsacks with my son, but one that I really loved was the HALO Sleepsack. It takes the guesswork out of swaddling and makes your baby feel like they are back in the womb, which immobilizes their arms to prevent the startle reflex, so they sleep better too. I literally bought like 5 of these in several sizes and several materials (like muslin and fleece for the changing weather).  It's also adjustable, so once they get bigger (and don't need to be swaddled anymore) they can have one or both arms out, and it basically becomes a wearable blanket. I also really liked the SwaddleMe swaddles for newborns, so I got one of these as well.

6. Burt's Bees Organic Washcloths: I love Burt's Bees and these washcloths are also organic (which is always a plus in my book).

7. Boppy Nursing Pillow: I used the Boppy nursing pillow with my first born and absolutely loved it. It makes nursing so much easier and comfortable. This time around though I was torn between getting the Boppy again or the My BestFriend Pillow so I ended up getting both. But after receiving the My BestFriend pillow I returned it because I thought it was too stiff.

8. Halo Bassinet: For the first couple of months the baby will be sleeping in your room, so a bassinet is always a good item to have in your baby registry. They only use it for a little while, so I didn't want to splurge either so I went with the HALO Bassinet. I really like that it swivels, so it makes getting the baby out of the bassinet for nursing a lot easier. It also comes with a soothing nightlight, sounds, music and vibration and a back to bed reminder.

9. Fisher-Price Swing: My first born absolutely loved this swing so I knew I definitely wanted to get it again for our baby girl. The Fisher-Price Sweet Snuagapuppy Dreams Cradle 'n Swing comes with two swinging motions to soothe baby as well as songs and soothing nature sounds.

10. BABYBJÖRN Travel Crib: I absolutely love this travel crib. It has so many features that are so useful in a travel crib like being lightweight (it only weighs 13 lbs.) super easy to assemble and packs up really small (it even has it's own carry case). This is so useful especially when we are traveling or visiting grandmas house and the baby needs to go down for a nap. After researching so many travel cribs, this one really stood out. I had another one with my first born that was so bulky and ended up breaking after a couple of uses. I also love that it has mesh all around so you can easily keep an eye on your little one. Definitely another must in my book.

11. Beaba Babycook Baby Food Maker: I love making my own baby food and this BEABABaby Food maker is making it so much easier. It steams, blends and reheats baby food all in one unit and in 15 minutes or less! I also got the Beaba Multiportions Silicone Trays, which is super helpful for freezing and storing baby food.

12. BABYJÖRN Bouncer: This BABYBJÖRN Bouncer was also a lifesaver with my son Andy. It provides a safe and cozy place next to you while you try to get a shower in or make a meal. It's super functional and I love that it folds up flat. It's also easy on the eyes (and blends with your home decor). Not to mention it also comes in many colors. I loved bringing it with me too when I would go visit my mom's house.

13. Burt's Bees Bodysuits: You can never have too many baby bodysuits. I love these from Burt's Bees and they are also organic too.

14.  Dock-a-Tot: I haven't tried the Dock-A-Tot before, but I've heard many great reviews about this baby lounger so decided to add it to my registry. It's a bit of a splurge (it starts at $175) so we'll see if it lives up to the hype (will keep you posted).

15. Baby Shusher: I'm so excited to try this Baby Shusher Sound Machine. I remember when I had to use a white noise app on my cellphone to get my little one to fall asleep.  I love how portable it is so you can take it with you everywhere.

16. Aden and Anais Burp Bibs: I loved these Aden + Anais Burp cloths. They are so soft, a great size and hold up during washes.

17. Philips Avent Glass Bottles: I went through so many bottles with my first born and these were the only ones that he really loved. It also made the transition from breastfeeding to bottle feeding so much easier and it helped with not taking so much air in. I also really like that they're made out of glass and not plastic.  Each baby is different, so this is probably one you'll have to play around with. I also got the COMO bottles as backup in case these don't work with baby #2.

18. Ergo Baby Carrier:  A baby carrier is a must, especially when you are trying to get things done around the house or need to run errands. With my first born I was so scared to wear a baby carrier  (and went through so many brands) because I thought he was going to fall out. This one seems pretty easy to use. I also got the Baby K'Tan Carrier which wears more like a t-shirt and seems great for the newborn stage. Both also protect their little legs and hips.

19. Bottle Warmer: When Andy was a baby he loved his breast milk warmed up, so we used a bottle warmer (besides, which baby likes cold milk). I'm looking forward to trying out this bottle warmer with Baby #2. This one uses a low temperature water bath to heat bottles, while avoiding overheating.

What are some of your must-have baby registry items?  Here are a few more items that didn't make it to my list above, but that I'll be using with Baby #2.

PS. Don't forget that most insurance companies will cover your breast pump. So contact them before purchasing one.
