Hotel Review: Honeymooning at Cap Maison Resort & Spa, Saint Lucia

My husband and I recently celebrated our honeymoon in St. Lucia (wedding pictures will be coming soon). As you know, we both love to travel, but had yet to visit this beautiful island. It's no surprise that when you Google "Top 10 Honeymoon Destinations," St. Lucia always comes up. It definitely didn't disappoint. We spent five days at Cap Maison Resort & Spa, a 5-star boutique hotel located at the northernmost tip of Saint Lucia on an ocean bluff with breathtaking sea views.

HOW TO GET THERE:

We took a direct flight from Miami to St. Lucia, which was approximately 2 hours and from the airport we took a private transfer (which the hotel helped coordinate) to the resort, which was another 1 hour and 30 minutes. The drive itself went by really quick as we admired all the stunning scenery and banana plantations. Our driver even stopped at a look-out point so he could take our picture. Everyone on the island is extremely friendly.

THE ROOM

The resort consists of 49 rooms situated within two story villa style accommodations. We loved the Mediterranean/Spanish style overall, at times we even felt like we were in Morocco. It also has the feel of a private residence as much as a hotel. When we got there, we were upgraded to a one bedroom villa suite. It was everything we could have asked for and more. It came with a full-size kitchen, living room, dining room, terrace, spacious air-conditioned separate bedroom with a master bath and shower. Not only that, but it also had it's own private roof-top terrace on the second floor with a private pool.  Cap Maison is not only perfect for honeymooners, but for families with small children as well. I can totally see myself coming back here with our son Andy and our baby on the way.

FOOD & DRINK

If you know me, you know I always love a good all-inclusive. The great thing about Cap Maison is you can choose to do an all-inclusive, half board or neither (although breakfast is always included in your standard room rate). But what really sets Cap Maison apart from other hotels and even other all-inclusives, is that they really focus on providing local quality ingredients and creating gourmet dishes out of them. The menu is also constantly rotating.

The resort has two restaurants. The first one is the Cliff at Cap. It's an open-air restaurant featuring French Caribbean cuisine, it's also perched on a cliff edge with stunning views. We loved coming here for dinner and catching the sunset. It really doesn't get any more romantic than that. They also had live music on some evenings. This is also where breakfast is served, which includes a mix of yogurt, fresh fruits, breads, pastries and cooked options.

For a more relaxed option, there's also the Naked Fisherman, which is right on the beach and serves lunch and dinner. This was our favorite place to grab lunch (sandy toes and all). We also came here for dinner on two of the nights and loved hearing the waves crashing as we ate.

BEACH/POOL

The resort has a beach just a few steps away. Since the resort is on a seaside cliff, it requires walking down 92 steps to get there. This is where I got most of my exercise for the day haha. It's known as Smugger's Cove and although it's open to everyone, it feels like the resort's own private beach.

The water is absolutely beautiful and it was never overcrowded. There's complimentary lounge chairs and umbrellas and several activities you can do from kayaking to windsurfing. There's also two pools on-site, a plunge pool and large infinity pool with views of the ocean. When we weren't in our own private-pool, we loved coming to the infinity pool and catch the sunset.

Overall, we absolutely loved this resort for our honeymoon. So much so, that we never left in the five days that we were there, except for a sunset cruise that we took. The cruise was absolutely amazing and is the resort's private 46 foot yacht, which takes you to visit some picturesque views.

Can't recommend it enough if you're looking for a place to honeymoon in St. Lucia or simply a relaxing family getaway.

Thank you Cap Maison for hosting our unforgettable honeymoon stay. All opinions, as always, are 100% my own.
