The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne: Why it's the Perfect Kid-Friendly Luxury Resort

This summer has been pretty packed with traveling to say the least. When we got back from Italy, we felt like we needed a vacation from the vacation--we were so tired.  Luckily, the great thing about Miami is that you don't need to go too far to find a slice of paradise. So we packed our bags and headed for a little getaway at the Ritz-Carlton in Key Biscayne. Aside from being a perfect luxury getaway for adults, the real standout is how they treat their youngest guests.

Here are 5 reasons you'll want to book your next family vacation at the Ritz-Carlton in Key Biscayne.

They Make Kids Feel Welcomed from the Very Beginning

As soon as you walk through the doors, they make you feel super welcomed. In fact, kids have their own check-in desk, which includes a step ladder so they can reach the counter. Andy had to fill out a short survey with questions such as what he likes to eat and his favorite place to travel (his was Bananas and Disney World haha). Look at that smile!

After he filled out the survey (with a little help from mom) he was given a small beach bag filled with goodies such as a rubber ducky, an inflatable beach ball, sunscreen and crayons. I mean, who does this? Needless to say, Andy was over the moon with his gifts (and he took that rubber ducky with him everywhere!)

The Suites

We arrived a few hours early and they were able to have our room ready (before check-in time, which is always such a great feeling). The Oceanfront Suite was stunning and super spacious, 800-square-feet to be exact. It felt more like home than a resort.

The bedroom was also completely closed off to the living room by two french doors. This is always a perk, especially when traveling with kids because you can stay up late watching TV or a movie (they have in-room movie selections available) without worrying about waking them up.

I completely took advantage of this and once Andy went to bed, me and my mom headed to the living room to watch Game of Thrones haha.

The room also included a full balcony with ocean views, a king bed, a sleeper sofa and an ample executive desk, in case you need to get some work done.

In addition to the marble bathroom with separate bath and shower, double sinks and robes, it also had a half bath in the living room area. I also loved their Asprey bath toiletries.

The Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne Club Lounge

One of my favorite things about staying at a Ritz-Carlton is their Club Lounge. The lounge featured a four meal presentation daily that included: breakfast, lunch, midday snacks and hors d'oeuvres. It also included complimentary beverage services, such as wine, champagne and more. This was perfect because we didn't have to worry about ever leaving the resort. The food was delicious! Andy can sometimes be picky, but he had no problem eating all of his food.

Inside the Club Lounge is also the Ritz Kids Zone, which Andy loved. It's an area where kids can play and includes everything from board games, puzzles, movies and toys. So once Andy was finished eating he would go play (while mommy enjoyed her food).

In addition to the Club Lounge the resort also offers oceanfront restaurants inspired by global cuisines, such as Cantina Beach with authentic Mexican dishes and RUMBAR, a Cuban-inspired restaurant and lounge.

Ritz-Kids Activity Programming

The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne also offers an amazing Ritz Kids Program for kids ages 5-12. They have an exclusive partnership with Jean-Michel Cousteau's Ocean Futures Society and created a program that appeals to kid's innate love of discovery. Kids can go for a full day or half-a-day.

I sent Andy for half-a-day from (11am-3pm) and he had such a great time, especially since he also made a friend. I also purchased the meal-plan, so he had lunch while he was there. You can choose from a variety of options such as:

Grilled Grouper Filet, Grilled Chicken Breast with rice, Vegetable Quesadillas, Grilled Cheese Sandwiches, Penne Pasta, Macaroni and Cheese, Pizza, Chicken Strips and more.

SPA

While Andy was at the Ritz-Kids Program, grandma and I enjoyed some much needed girl time with a trip to their Forbes Four-Star Luxury Spa. It was also Spa Month in Miami, so we enjoyed a special discounted rate. If you're not booking a service, you can still enjoy the facilities if you're staying at the resort such as their sauna, steam room and whirlpool.

Pool and Beach

The resort also boasts two pools including a family-friendly pool with cascading waterfall (as well as a separate adult pool (for couples and honeymooners). Andy can spend the entire day in the pool, so he was in heaven. We also headed to the beach, which is a few steps away.

Other Good Things to Know

While you're there, you can rent one of the resort's free bikes (they also have bikes with child seats) and head to Bill Baggs Park. It's a short bike ride away and is the home of a historic lighthouse build in 1825. Kids will love it.

For my gym rats (like myself lol) the resort has a great fitness center, filled with cardio machines, weights and a Smith Machine. So while the kids are at the Ritz-Kids programming, you can sneak in a workout.

Looking to be adventurous? The resort has several activities you can choose from, such as windsurfing or kayaking.

If you're looking for additional kid-friendly attractions, I strongly recommend the following (which is a short 15-20 minute car ride away): Miami Children's Museum (it's free on certain weekends), Jungle Island and Frost Science Museum.

We can't wait to be back soon. Have you ever stayed at the Ritz-Carlton, Key Biscayne? Let me know what you think.
