Hi guys, last week I passed by Telemundo's Un Nuevo Dia to share some tips on how to save money while traveling, from booking your trip to saving money on your stay plus other helpful tips. Here's a clip of the segment in case you'd like to check it out. I also included my tips below in English:
The best days to fly: The best days to fly are days during the week such as Wednesday and Thursday since most people are working so the demand isn't that high. Days such as Saturday is another day where you might be able to find a lower rate. On the other hand, days such as Friday are higher in demand, so expect to pay a little more for your airfare.
When to buy: Not sure when to buy your airfare online? There's an app that I love called Hopper. It basically searches thousands of flights every day to help you predict when is the best day to buy. It will also notify you when your airfare is at its lowest.
Saving money on your stay: Try to find a hotel that already has breakfast included. I love staying at Hampton by Hilton. Not only do they offer high-quality accommodations at a great value, but it also includes free hot daily breakfast. If you think about it, a family of four can easily spend up to $60-$80 on breakfast, so you can easily be saving that every day! Hilton Honors members who book directly at Hampton.com will also gain instant access to exclusive benefits, such as a booking discount, free Wi-Fi and the opportunity to redeem points for free nights. For inspiration you can also check out HamptonSeekender.com
How to save money when you arrive: You don't have to spend big bucks on entertainment. Consider cultural activities such as visiting museums, going on a hike or checking out historical monuments. Many museums also offer free admission on certain days, so be sure to check that out.
You can also save money by using public transportation. In case you get lost all the time, like I do, then you'll love the app City Mapper. It basically helps you navigate your way through all types of public transportation (from the subway, metro, bus..etc.). It tells you where to get off and what's the best way to get there.
