I hope you guys have been enjoying my Hampton by Hilton Seekender trip (here's Part 1 and Part 2 in case you missed it). Today, I'll be sharing the last installment of my trip, where I spent a weekend in San Diego.
For those of you that know me, you know I'm a HUGE beach lover. I love everything that has to do with the water, including water sports (I own my own kayak and paddle board). So you know I had to visit La Jolla in San Diego and kayak the sea caves while I was there. This was probably one of the highlights from my trip. I highly recommend it if you're planning on visiting San Diego.
Andy was too little to ride with me, so he ended up staying with grandma on the beach while I kayaked.
Fun fact: Our tour guide was pointing at the house where the wife of the author of Dr. Seuss lives. She's a longtime La Jolla resident.
After I conquered the sea caves, it was time to grab some lunch. We headed to Puesto in La Jolla. They serve yummy Mexican food with ingredients sourced from local and organic farms in San Diego. The salsas are also made fresh every day and the tortillas from stone-ground maize. I ordered the fish tacos and guacamole and it was delicious!
After a long day, we headed back to our hotel, the Hampton by Hilton in Mission Valley and relaxed. We also grabbed some hot tea and coffee, which was available 24/7 in the lobby.
The next day, it was time to say good-bye to San Diego and our hotel. We had such an amazing time. Not only did we get to create some beautiful memories, but this trip also taught me a lot about myself. You see, my late husband was always the planner. He was the one that always planned family vacations, found all the must-see attractions, while I just kind of laid back and went for the ride.
This trip taught me that I too can take charge and plan some beautiful trips for me and Andy. I even rented a car and drove through places I had never been before (thank goodness for my GPS), but I did it! I let out my inner Seekender and seized the weekend for all that it's worth. And isn't that what life is all about---creating memories with our loved ones?
A big thank you to Hampton by Hilton for making this trip possible. I'm so honored to be part of this amazing Seekender team.
