A few months back, we shared with you our
Bedroom Makeover and next up in our home makeover series is our living room. As you can see, we were pretty obsessed with everything grey and blue, but it made our living room look dark and dreary, it needed a major color boost.
The first thing we decided to do was add a rug. Rugs are great to define a space and this one helped add warmth and texture to our living room. By far,
Overstock.com has the best selection of rugs. There were so many to pick from. We finally decided on this was called the
nuLOOM hand-knotted rug. It was a steal for just $169 and you've probably seen it all around Pinterest. It really does work great for any space and looks gorgeous. We also love how it made our blue pouf pop.
Another easy way to add life to your living room is by adding throw pillows. I found
this one on clearance at Target ($11) and the yellow ones too.
We also added a houseplant! I've killed almost every plant we've had, but I was reading up on all the benefits of having a houseplant, such as it removes harmful toxins from the air so I thought I'd give it another try. I think I spent one whole week doing research on plants
haha. I needed one that was low maintenance, didn't need too much sunlight and wasn't toxic to pets and children. And so, meet "Sally" she's our
Areca Palm we bought at Home Depot. I still need to find a planter for her, but this plastic one from Home Depot for $5 bucks did the trick for now.
Another thing that helped add life to our living room was this
accent chair in this rich caramel color. Can you believe it was under $150 bucks from Overstock? It definitely looks much more expensive than it is. It's also super comfortable and easy to assemble. I put it together myself in under 3 minutes.
So there you have it. We're in love with our new space. How do you change up your living room?
Where to Buy:
Sofa: West Elm
Curtains: West Elm
Pillows: Cobalt Blue from West Elm
Plant: Areca Palm from Home Depot
Carmen,
Carmen
