Weekend of Shapewear!!

This past weekend (as you might have read in an earlier post) I had the chance to attend the Circle of Sisters expo in New York thanks to Bali Intimate Apparel and Lycra.  It was such a great experience and I got to learn so much about shapewear! For starters, these aren't your grandma's girdles, as some might think when they think of shapewear. They also use some pretty cool technology when creating them to make sure they have a lighter feel and are comfortable. Some problems I know I've had with other shapewear is that by the end of the day I feel so constrained in it...I just end up taking it off. This definitely isn't the case here. Anywho, thought I'd share with you some other cool things I learned during my interview with Celebrity Stylist Jen Rade (who by the way was soooo sweet).

VF: What tips can you give us when it comes to shapewear? 

Jen Rade: I would say spend time and attention into finding the right undergarment. Most women are very concerned about what's happening on the outside, so I really encourage people to try and experiment and never ever buy it too small and just have a variety of different types of pieces to work underneath different types of clothes.

VF: What do you think about women who might think shapewear is only for curvier women...are there any misconceptions about that? 

Jen Rade: Shapewear can be used for all body types...it just makes you feel more confident. Your posture suddenly gets better. It's so hard to explain on how that right piece can make all the difference and just gives you more confidence...things feel better. People just don't spend enough time into trying and experimenting with it, and I think if they did they would be happily surprised to see how the technology has made it not only effective but also comfortable.
